Cognitive deficits pose significant challenges for individuals with neurological illnesses and injuries, particularly in learning and memory abilities that affect their daily functioning. Join us as we explore the vast body of literature supporting cognitive rehabilitation across various neurological populations. We will delve into comprehensive evaluations of cognitive rehabilitation, employing a range of outcome measures such as neuropsychological assessments, functional neuroimaging, and real-life activity evaluations. Gain valuable insights into the impact of cognitive rehabilitation on enhancing everyday functioning and quality of life.

Furthermore, speakers will spotlight the role of exercise training as a form of neurorehabilitation for individuals with multiple sclerosis (MS). Explore the evidence-based effects of exercise on cognitive function, brain structure, function, and connectivity, as assessed through neuropsychological testing and advanced MRI techniques. Engage in thought-provoking discussions on conceptual frameworks and models that shed light on the potential mechanisms behind exercise-induced cognitive improvement in MS.

In addition, we will address the pressing need for accessible neurorehabilitative interventions for individuals with dementia and mild cognitive impairment (MCI). With over 55 million people worldwide affected by dementia, innovative solutions are crucial. Join us as we unveil the use of interactive, home-based embodied AI systems, including co-designed social robots, to deliver personalized and engaging neurorehabilitation support to individuals with MCI and dementia. Explore the cutting-edge advancements in interactive robotics and their potential to provide social support and stimulation, enriching the lives of both individuals and their caregivers.

Target Audience: Health practitioners are the primary audience, including clinical psychologists, neuropsychologists, rehabilitation psychologists, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists.

  3. Summarize evidence supporting exercise benefits on cognitive domains in MS.
  4. Explain potential mechanisms underlying how exercise might improve cognition and brain metrics in MS.
  5. List the factors in designing robot-delivered health interventions.
  6. Plan how to collaboratively design robots that promote agency for people with dementia.
