Dr. Amanda Cook Maher is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan in the Department of Psychiatry. As an adult-geriatric neuropsychologist, she is interested in the study of brain-behavior relationships in older adult populations. Her research focuses on successful cognitive aging and early detection of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders (ADRD) using a multidisciplinary lens. The ultimate goals of herwork are to (a) understand what contributes to cognitive health in older age, (b) detect ADRD in the earliest stages, and (c) apply information gleaned from investigation of cognitively successful adults to those early in the ADRD disease course to mitigate cognitive decline. Dr. Cook Maher currently serves as the University of Michigan site-Principal Investigator of The SuperAging Research Initiative as well as a member of the project’s Clinical Core.
